Players can join a game as one of the 193 countries recognized by the United Nations at the time of its preparation. All standard games start 2001 in SuperPower 2 player take control of their nation. They must then work to achieve their defined goals, such as achieving world peace, balancing your nation's resources, or conquering the world, or, if they did not set predefined goals, they have the opportunity to work on developing the infrastructure of their nation, thereby increasing their military strength through new unit designs and development, and promote economic and cultural growth of their nation. Players build SuperPower 2 in their own countries and increase influence in the world while competing against a sophisticated AI.
