The game retains the basic mechanisms of strategies in real time. Warring factions gather resources, then use them to construct military bases and armies on site. In the battle for Middle-Earth, buildings can not be built on the building sites of predefined plots. Plots range from farmhouses to full-fledged castles, with different arrangements in and available buildings, and plots can be purchased when they are in the sole presence of forces on one side. Only resource are the nebulous "resources", which are produced in dedicated buildings inexhaustible.
