After successfully venturing into hell and defeat Diablo in Act IV, Archangel Tyrael opens a portal to Harrogath, a stronghold on Mount Arreat in the northern Barbarian Highlands. Although two of the Prime Evils of Hell, Mephisto and Diablo, have been killed and destroyed the Soulstones Hellforge their surviving brother Baal (who personified Tyrael at the end of Act IV and recovered his Soulstone own from Marius narrator) has raised an army and attacked Mount Arreat, whose inhabitants are charged with defending the Barbarian Pierre-world.
