The game begins when the player assumes the role of the main character of the game into a hostile environment dungeon crawler. The player enters a dungeon on the top floor and progresses gradually down through levels of increasing difficulty. Each level is a randomly generated maze of interconnecting rooms, filled with monsters, traps, loot and various objects. The game world is provided in a grid of tiles with square base seen in a top-down perspective, where the player, enemies, and various items and objects occupy discrete square.
